Brandenburg’s Business Corridor

Most of Brandenburg’s industrial businesses are concentrated in the Havelland-Fläming region, which is composed of the districts of Teltow-Fläming, Potsdam-Mittelmark and Havelland, and the cities of Potsdam and Brandenburg on the Havel. The E30 trans-European route crosses the region as the A2 and A10 autobahns, linking the industrial centers of Western Europe to emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe. Technology centers, industrial parks, R&D facilities and plants operated by renowned international businesses are strung along this business corridor like pearls on a necklace. The E30 route also serves the future Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BBI).

Prestigious companies, including Rolls-Royce, MTU, Mercedes-Benz, eBay, Oracle, VW’s design and logistics centers, Katjes, DHL, Fiege, Fielmann, and the world-famous Babelsberg film studios in Potsdam, are all located in the Havelland-Fläming region.

The Havelland-Fläming region attracts logistics companies (two freight villages), biotechnology businesses (three life science parks), firms involved in rail technology (Brandenburg-Kirchmöser), the wood industry (Baruth), media companies (Babelsberg film and television studios), and optics businesses (Rathenow). Several industrial parks are located right on the autobahn.

The region’s economic structure is innovative and dynamic, its infrastructure excellent, its population young, cosmopolitan and highly skilled. Located in the heart of Brandenburg, Havelland-Fläming boasts a blend of high technology, breathtaking nature and a unique cultural landscape. No wonder the region’s population has been booming in recent years!

The Teltow-Fläming district has been one of Germany’s “high potential” regions for years. In a survey regarding the economic competitiveness of 439 towns and districts, the Potsdam finished in the top 20, surpassing locations like Cologne, Frankfurt and Hamburg (cf. “Zukunftsatlas”, survey conducted by the Prognos institute).

Four regional growth areas are located in the Havelland-Fläming region:
Potsdam, Brandenburg an der Havel, Ludwigsfelde and Luckenwalde.

Districts: Teltow-Fläming, Potsdam-Mittelmark, Havelland,
Independent towns: Potsdam (regional capital), Brandenburg an der Havel
