• More than 15,000 modern jobs
• Scientific environment boosts new start-ups

• Outstanding pool of qualified specialists and junior scientists (some 3,000 students annually graduate in life sciences and related fields at Berlin and Brandenburg universities)
Brandenburg’s biotechnology industry is ready for the future
With a variety of R&D programmes in genomics, proteomics, regenerative medicine, green and white biotechnology, molecular diagnostics and bioanalytics, the German capital region offers outstanding opportunities for the development and worldwide marketing of innovative products and services.
Brandenburg’s growing medical technology sector
Companies in the region develop highly innovative, globally competitive products in oncology, cardio-vascular implants, imaging technology, telemedicine, minimally invasive surgery, and orthopedics.
Networking between R&D and industry
Most of Berlin-Brandenburg’s biotech and medical technology businesses are SMEs, and networking helps them achieve their full potential. The BioTOP agency, for example, was founded to accelerate technology transfer between R&D and business. Together with ZAB, BioTOP recently developed a network for diagnostic technology and another for industrial biotechnology. BiomeG, which focuses on the development of biomedical devices, is just one of the networks made available to medical technology companies. And the Health Capital network is aimed at integrating businesses in the German capital region’s health care industry.
